Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers before you take the next step.

If your question is not covered here, ask it directly. A first conversation should make the decision clearer.

Is our company too small to need these services?

Not necessarily. The right question is whether technology or risk decisions are affecting your operations, customers, growth or leadership time. The work can be scaled to a focused concern and does not need to become a large program.

Do we need an internal IT department?

No. We regularly work with organizations that rely on a managed service provider, a small internal team or a combination of both.

Will you replace our managed service provider or IT team?

Usually not. We provide independent leadership, assessment and planning, then work with the people already supporting your business. We can also help clarify roles and provider expectations.

Do I need to be technical to work with you?

No. Our job is to explain the issue, choices and business implications clearly. Technical detail is available when needed, but it should never be a barrier to leadership decisions.

What is the difference between an assessment and an audit?

An assessment is generally used to understand your current position, risks and improvement priorities. An audit is a formal examination against defined criteria and may result in an assurance opinion or certification. We will be clear about which type of work applies.

Do you sell hardware or software?

No. Our advice is independent and vendor-neutral. If a product or provider is needed, we can help define requirements and evaluate options without receiving a sales commission.

Which frameworks do you use?

We draw from recognized practices and frameworks that fit the issue, such as NIST, CIS Controls, ISO and responsible AI guidance. We translate them into a right-sized approach rather than apply a framework mechanically.

How long does an engagement take?

A focused assessment may take several weeks. A broader strategy, roadmap or ongoing advisory relationship may extend over several months. Timing depends on scope, availability and how much implementation support is requested.

What will we receive at the end?

Most engagements include a plain-language leadership summary, clear findings, prioritized recommendations and a practical roadmap. Other deliverables depend on the service and agreed scope.

Can you help implement the recommendations?

Yes. We can support your team and providers, help manage specific initiatives or continue in an advisory capacity. The level of support is agreed separately so you remain in control.

Can you provide ongoing CIO or CISO support?

Yes. Fractional CIO and CISO guidance is available when the business needs experienced leadership but not a full-time executive.

Will our information be kept confidential?

Yes. We treat client information carefully, limit access and use appropriate confidentiality terms. Any engagement will clearly explain how information is handled.

What should we prepare for the first conversation?

You do not need a large package. Bring the business issue, what prompted it, who is involved and any deadline or outside request. We will tell you what additional information would be useful.

Still not sure where to start?

Describe the situation in your own words.

We will help you identify the question that needs to be answered first.
